This is not the first time that the Online Casino Review team have visited Fun Casino. We did an in-depth review of this popular online and mobile casino a year ago and we were thrilled by the fun we had. But a year has gone by and we must admit – we are disappointed.

What drew us back to Fun Casino was the addition of an online sportsbook to the offering and, as passionate South African lovers of all things gambling and all things sport, we tend to get a little excited when we get the chance to combine the two. Unfortunately, our latest excursion to Fun Casino left us with a rather bad case of the doldrums as we soon realised that Fun Casino doesn’t quite live up to its famous name anymore.

They still have an impressive list of licenses. They still offer some great online slots games. And they now have an online sportsbook. But what they claim and what they actually deliver are world’s apart. Just one example would be their list of providers: they post a list of 19 providers, some of the most famous names in the biz including Microgaming, Play’n GO, and NetEnt but, on clicking to get to the games, we only found working links to Blueprint, Novomatic, and Play’n GO. Is it a glitch? Is it false advertising to get players to sign up? The OCR team were leaning towards system error until we found that the promised online Live Casino (and the providers Evolution and Pragmatic Play) were similarly AWOL. Even the links, which were very visible before logging in, had seemingly disappeared.

Very, very disappointing.

Fun Casino excels in bringing a sense of whimsy to the online casino world. The pastel colour palette, the cute little graphics and the sense of calm that pervades the site is quite different to the dark backgrounds, gold swishes, and glitz and glam that is normally found in the online and mobile casino industry. It makes a very pleasant change and the design and layout that accompanies this look adds to the sense of ease that players will experience when navigating Fun Casino.

Registration and log in are very similar to other online casino sign in processes. New players will need to hit the Register link at the top of the page and supply the standard personal details like name, surname, D0B, address, country, mobile and email. Players are asked to create a username and password and then verify their details with an email link. Once this is all done, log in is as simple as clicking the Log In button. There is also an option of choosing English or Swedish as your language of choice.

Navigating the Fun Casino offering is made easy through the various tabs on the home page. There is a large image-dominated area at the head of the page that would normally be filled with promos but, at Fun Casino, seems to be stuck on a Play Now message.

Below this are the tabs for the lobbies: All Categories, Sportsbook, Video Slots, Slingo, Slots, and Casual Games.

And here we have just one of the many problems with Fun Casino.

Clicking on these tabs is a frustrating experience. All Categories is the default page and shows a bunch of different options like Popular Games, Sportsbook, Tournament Games, Hot Games, New Games, Video Slots, Slingo, Slots, and Casual Games. And each of these highlights very limited examples from each category.

Clicking on Sportsbook gives you five sportsbook options. Clicking on Video Slots displays nine slots games. Clicking on Slingo or Casual Games has the same three games. And clicking on the Slots tab, the one that should take players to all the online slots, has only nine available games.

It’s a problem that continues across the Fun Casino platform. Buttons and tabs that do nothing. Options that are frustratingly minimal. Where are the actual games? Any player used to online casinos will, quite honestly, give up at this point – but we are professionals, so we soldiered on.

If you want to find any games worth playing at Fun Casino, we advise you to look for the ‘Show All’ option wherever possible. At least this seems to open up a bit more of a selection.

All in all, Fun Casino is a huge disappointment. There are tons of better online and mobile casinos that welcome South Africans, and we would recommend you try them before you waste time or Randelas on this site.

Security is important, and impressive, at Fun Casino – a rare positive for the OCR team. They have three different licenses and are regulated through the UK, Malta, and Sweden.

Fun Casino has a very basic online and mobile casino – for South Africans at least. We are not sure whether or not other territories have access to all the ‘claimed’ providers and games, but the OCR team were allowed to see at most 70 online slots, no table games, and no online Live Casino.

All of these options are advertised by Fun Casino along with their list of providers, but they are nowhere to be found once we registered and logged in.

A lot of these tabs just redirect to the same few games, like the Slingo and Casual Games pages.

Not of the standard we had hoped to see again at Fun Casino.

Online sportsbook

Again, a disappointment. And yes, we know we are starting to sound like an online slot that has hit a connectivity issue and just keeps spinning while going nowhere – which is exactly how we actually feel at Fun Casino right now.

The online Sportsbook has a grand total of FIVE markets in the lobby: Football, Basketball, Hockey, Racing, Tennis. Any online sports punter will probably go find another gambling partner.

HOWEVER – and this is the perfect illustration of our frustration – if you do happen to click on one of these options (we went to the Football page) you suddenly have a whole world of sports open up! A ton of markets. Football, rugby, volleyball, baseball, cycling, American Football, tennis, eSports, MMA, Aussie Rules, specialty and many, many more. 

An impressive offering but why is it hidden behind all the clicks and links and rigamarole to get there!?

Be wary though, because you’ll also see links to those disappearing lobbies for online Live Casino and Table Games.
